2011 was a tremendous year for games; just as the year was closing, big names kept coming out one after another. It goes without saying that the Infinite Ammo staff spent many hours ignoring sleep to play as many games as we could and then tirelessly write about them so you could play too. Let’s take a look back.

Game Reviews

If you wanted new hardware, we discussed the 3DS (and its price cut). If you like first person shooters like Battlefield 3 and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, we had reviews for you. If you like comics and games, we had the chance to “Be Batman” while playing Batman: Arkham City, we checked out Ultimate Marvel VS Capcom 3, and we got a chance to be our own hero in DC Universe Online (for better or for worse). We got two doses of Sonic with Sonic Generations and Sonic Colors, we got fantastic fantasy games in Skyrim and The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword. We got to seek adventure in Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception and seek insanity in Saints Row the Third. We got to check out WWE ’12 and be wrestlers, and be whoever we wanted in the “new and improved” Playstation Home. We even time traveled, going back to our past to tell you all about the “Best Games You’ve Never Played”, like the Bouncer, Zone of the Enders: the 2nd Runner, Psi-Ops: The Mindgate Conspiracy, Evil Zone, and Christmas Nights.

The Gaming Industry

With all of the gaming news, though, we found ourselves distracted at times by the curious decisions moving the gaming industry behind the scenes. We questioned the serious lack of Megaman this year, and if Capcom was “Forcing the Blue Bomber Into Retirement.” We questioned “Gamestop’s Drug-Fueled Binge of Drugs, Sex, Used Games Sales, and Drugs” (they’re really doing some wild stuff). In “If It’s Broke” we questioned the developers like Valve who make changes that break games and then never fix them. And then we questioned whether Skyward Sword brought around a gaming revolution or if it was too late to get the “Motion Games We Deserve.”

Gaming Life

But we also had some fun, reminding the world of addictions in gaming like Halo in our article: “73625 CR to Win” and giving our “Fond Farewell to Oblivion just before the release of Skyrim. We wondered about the bizarre in gaming, like in “What The Hell, Super Mario Land?” and the use of the moon in gaming in “Bang! Zoom! To The Moon!” Least fun, perhaps, was our sharing “5 Gaming Experiences We Never Wanted To Have Again.”

We also introduced Fight Your Rival, where we pitted “Samus VS Master Chief”, and we introduced both the “Gamer’s Guide to Surviving the Debtpocalypse” and the “Gamer’s Guide To Successful Relationships.”

Conclusion

This was a long year for us, and we were only around for half of it! But, all in all, we must thank those of you who have been reading our stuff since the beginning and those of you who may be reading our stuff for the first time. Infinite Ammo is here to give you good quality writing and we hope to have you back in 2012.
